Toronto Pearson Airport now offers mobile assistant for the visually-impaired and blind

Toronto's Pearson Airport

Toronto Pearson International Airport is now offering visitors access to Aira, a mobile-powered technology that helps the visually impaired and blind passengers navigate.

Using the Aira app on either Android and iOS, passengers will receive navigational assistance through the aiport from a specially trained human agent. Aira is also supported through optional special video-equipped smart glasses.

The Aira app can be downloaded for free, although there is a subscription fee to actually use its services. However, Pearson will offer free Aira service to users for as long as they’re in the airport. Aira service will be available at Pearson in Terminals 1 and 3, as well as airport parking facilities.

Full instructions on how to use Aira at Pearson can be found here.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) says Pearson is the first airport in Canada to support Aira.
