The latest report from Nikkei, a Tokyo-based publication, suggests Apple is designing three new iPhones next year and that one device is set to feature a metal back.
Nikkei says a source has revealed that all three iPhone devices will featured a full notched display similar to the iPhone X. The difference is that the 6.5-inch and the 5.8-inch model are set to utilize an OLED panel, while the 6.1-inch model will use an LCD display, with the aforementioned metal rear.
This report corroborates analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s claim that Apple is planning to release three different devices in 2018.
Nikkei also says the 6.1-inch model will be available in several colours.
With a metal back, the 6.1-inch iPhone won’t feature wireless charging like this years iPhone 8 and iPhone X. This 6.1-inch iPhone iteration is also tipped to be more affordable when compared to the other models.
