Motorola teases RAZR Moto Mod

Razr Moto Mod teaser

Motorola is (once again) teasing the return of the RAZR. This time, however, the company says the iconic phone will be reborn as a Moto Mod.

“Bringing back the iconic Moto that changed the 2000’s. This time, it’s new and improved, as a Moto Mod,” says the company on its Malaysian Facebook page. Accompanying the post is the image you see above.

Of course, with the timing of this teaser so close to April Fools’ Day, Motorola could just be having an elaborate laugh at the expense of nostalgic fans. After all, this would not be the first time the company has used the RAZR brand to pull at people’s heartstrings.

Just last year, Motorola uploaded the YouTube video below to build up excitement for Lenovo Tech World. Almost everyone who saw that video thought the company planned to bring back the RAZR. Motorola was then forced to set the record straight.

“We love how the throwback video has been embraced and the excitement it has generated,” said a spokesperson for the company in a statement to The Telegraph. “The RAZR was one of the most iconic phones ever designed and redefined how stylish a mobile phone can be. While Moto is not re-releasing the RAZR, we will transform mobile again on June 9th.”

Motorola first released the RAZR in 2004. Until 2008, the phone was the best selling mobile device in history.
