Toronto’s AgileBits shows Android O’s game changing autofill feature in action

1Password Android O autocomplete

When Google announced the launch of the Android O’s developer preview last week, one of the new features that caught my eye was the operating system’s new autofill API. I immediately had visions of how great that feature would be in the hands of developers like Toronto-based AgileBits, which maintains the excellent cross-platform password manager 1Password.

It turns out AgileBits had the same visions because the developer has released a video (seen below) that showcases how that feature could work with an updated version of 1Password.

As the video shows, the entire process is much smoother than the company’s current autofill solution on either Android or iOS. Once the user taps the relevant button and authenticates their identity using their smartphone’s fingerprint sensor, the autofill API automatically adds within each relevant field.

It’s still early days for Android O, but it’s small but useful changes like this that have me excited for the next version of Google’s OS. We’ll likely see more of Android O in the coming weeks and months leading up to its eventual release sometime this fall.
