In perhaps greatest moment since the eggplant emoji entered the modern lexicon, BlackBerry has added the one eyebrow raised character, affectionately known as the Colbert emoji, to BBM.
The addition of the emoji is notable for a number of reasons. One, it’s the Colbert emoji (this point should be self-explanatory, but it needed to be said anyway); two, BBM is the first app to add the new character.
Given that the emoji was approved by the Unicode Consortium, the non-profit organization that oversees the creation and approval of new emojis, we can except to see it arrive on other platforms, including iOS and Android, soon enough. I personally can’t wait to convey “skepticism, accompanied by the concepts of disapproval and (mild) surprise” with a single character.
