On Thursday, Google announced the nominees for its annual Google Play Awards.

Split across 10 different categories, each one highlighting five different finalists, the awards aim to highlight the best new apps and games to arrive on the Play Store over the past year. One of the notable nominees this year is MobileSyrup favourite Alto’s Adventure (pictured above), made by Toronto-based studio Snowman. It’s nominated in the Standout Indie category along with Neko Atsume, the best cat collecting sim to grace any device, mobile or otherwise; Prune; Fast like a Fox; and Alphabear.

Other interesting categories include “Best Use of Material Design,” — Bring!, Robinhood, The Fabulous, Todoist and Vevo are highlighted in this category — and “Best App”. The latter sees BuzzFeed News, Colorfy, Houzz, TuneIn Radio and Yummly nominated.

Winners of the Google Play Awards will be decided at Google I/O. On Thursday, Google uploaded the schedule for I/O, revealing the search giant will spend a significant amount of time talking about virtual reality and Project Tango at its annual developer conference.

Take a look at the full list of nominees to get some new app download suggestions (the Material Design ones are especially worthwhile to check out).
