Rogers Ignite Gigabit brings faster internet speeds to small businesses in Canada

Rogers announced today it will offer faster internet speeds to Canadian small businesses through Rogers Ignite for Business Gigabit.

At a price of $199.99 CAD per month, small businesses will have access to unlimited data usage, opening the door to faster file transfers, real-time data back up and high quality video conferencing.

According to Charlie Wade, Rogers’ senior vice president of enterprise products and solutions, internet speeds have a direct impact on the productivity and growth potential of a small business.

“Gigabit speeds will give our customers time back in their day so they can focus on serving their own customers and running their business,” he said.

Today, small businesses make up 98 per cent of employer businesses in Canada.

However, approximately half of these businesses don’t survive longer than five years. Wade goes on to say that faster internet speeds can assist in making small businesses more competitive against their larger counterparts.

“They will have the ability to support more users online, to run applications and manage files in the “cloud” within seconds and to run systems like point of sale terminals more quickly, all on a secure connection.”

In October 2015, Rogers announced that it would provide 4K gigabit internet speeds to 4 million homes and businesses across Canada. Rogers Ignite Gigabit Internet was pegged to conclude its rollout with Rogers’ cable audiences by the end of 2016.

In December 2015, it was announced that Rogers had turned on gigabit internet speeds in select neighbourhoods. These include select areas in downtown Toronto and the GTA as well as Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Markham, Pickering, Ajax, and Whitby.

More options for gigabit will be rolling out in the coming months.
