OnePlus brings its On-Guard extended warranty package to Canada

After launching its On-Guard extended warranty program in Europe, OnePlus is now bringing the program to Canada, as well as the United States.

Available starting today in three different formats, the program allows upcoming OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X owners to insure their phones against accidental damage and manufacturing defects.

The base On-Guard 12 package, priced at $25 for both the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X, provides 12 months of extended service coverage (ESC) beyond the initial year of coverage, which means OnePlus will replace your phone if it’s malfunctioning from a manufacturing defect.

One step up, the On-Guard Plus 18 plan, priced at $85 for the OnePlus 2 and at $70 for the OnePlus X, provides six months of extended service coverage, as well accidental damage from handling (ADH) coverage for 18 months. The latter will see OnePlus replace your phone if it starts malfunction because of a drop or from a liquid spilling on it.

Finally, the On-Guard Plus 24 plan — priced at $110 and $85 for the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X, respectively — provides 12 months of extended service coverage and 24 months of total accidental damage coverage.

One important thing to note with all these plans is that you need to add one of them to your OnePlus phone purchase. Unlike AppleCare+ it’s not possible to purchase one of these plans several months after originally purchasing the phone. Google also recently brought its Nexus device warranty program called Nexus Protect to in Canada.
