Samsung has reportedly formed an internal team dedicated to developing display technology for Apple, according to Bloomberg Business.

Citing unnamed sources within Samsung, the publication says the team is made up of 200 employees, and that it formed as recently as April 1. The team has so far been focused on providing screens for the iPad and MacBook family of products, says Bloomberg. The report also notes that Samsung has split its AMOLED and LCD divisions into two separate companies in order to better focus on its respective partners’ needs.

The publication also notes that the Samsung will manufacture the successor to the A8 processor at its Giheung plant in South Korea, likely on a 14nm manufacturing process.

This is an interesting turn for the two companies, which have famously spent the past couple of years sparing in court and battling for global smartphone marketshare dominance. But it appears there’s nothing like the promise of shared profits to smooth over a corporate relationship. As the saying goes, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.
