Facebook for Android has been updated once again, now at version 1.9.7. This, with all their app updates, brings the unknown “Various bug fixes” and also some “security improvement.” There’s also been performance improvements to the app, namely a faster app login and navigation process. Probably the best addition in this update brings some new messaging features that lets you switch between conversations, include friends of friends, share bigger photos, and lets you see who’s currently available online. In addition, this new version of Facebook gives you the ability to take pics with the front-facing camera.
All the above sounds like it’s a decent update, but those only rocking Android 2.2 (Froyo) and up will be able to benefit. Facebook states they are omitting Cupcake, Donut and Eclair users from version 1.9.7 – which at last count was only 5.4%.
