BBM for Android and iPhone expected to launch within days

In BlackBerry’s open letter today, the company revealed that its popular BBM messaging platform has amassed a pre-registration list of “around six million customers.” Originally, BBM was to move past BlackBerry and go cross-platform to both Android and iPhone on September 21st, but an “unreleased version caused issues” that immediately paused a global roll-out of the app.

BlackBerry recently declared that they’re “still 100% committed to bringing BBM to Android and iPhone,” but that was two weeks ago. In an interview with Reuters, Frank Boulben, BlackBerry’s CMO, has gone on record saying that the previous BBM issues have been fully fixed and a BBM will launch on both Android and iPhone “within days.”

Sounds promising! Let the countdown begin, again.
