$40 million electric bus pilot project launching in Ontario

Starting next year some Ontarians will be riding on electric buses

Ontario is gearing up to launch a pilot project that will test out electric buses in Brampton and the York Region.

The Ontario government is purchasing 14 new busses and four charging stations to go along with them. The buses will be purchased with $13 million CAD from the Ontario Climate Change Action Plan. The full cost of the project will total around $40 million, according to a recent press release.

The buses that are part of the project are from New Flyer Industries based out of Winnipeg and Nova Bus from St. Eustache, Quebec. The charging stations will come from ABB Group and Siemens Canada.

The busses will start hitting the roads in 2019 and will roll out over the course of two years.
