Tile is bringing its location-tracking technology to more devices

Back in August, 2017, Simon Fleming-Wood, Tile’s Toronto-born marketing chief, said that the company planned to start integrating its tracking technology into various other products.

At CES 2018, Tile confirmed it plans to incorporate its tracking tech into products from Bose, Boosted (the makers of the Boosted Board), Samsonite, Herschel and more. Specific products from all the above aforementioned manufacturers can be tracked via Tile’s platform and app, without the use of a physical Tile tracker.

What’s more interesting, is that some current devices will be updated to support Tile tracking. For example, Bose will update its SoundSport Wireless QuietControl 30 headphones this spring to allow users to track the headphones via Tile’s platform. According to Tile, the headphones will work exactly like any other Tile-connected product.

In terms of audio notifications, a key Tile feature, the company is relying on built-in speakers inside the headphones for the ringers. According to Tile, many compares will be able to add its technology to their products without issuing new hardware.

Tile says its working with other manufacturers to integrate its technology into their devices so that it can get more people on the platform. In turn, this will help expand its shared network, which allows users to track their Tiles and other devices when they’re out of Bluetooth range.
