Tomorrow, Wind Mobile will launch Huawei’s Ascend Mate 2 smartphone. First shown off at CES 2014 this past January, the Ascend Mate 2 is notable for its massive 3900 mAh battery, which Huawei claims can go for 60 hours — or two and a half days — on a single charge.
At CES, Huawei made a big point of the fact that this phone’s ability to charge other devices. Though there hasn’t been much mention of this feature for the North American model, a quick glance at the specs on the US site reveals that the phone is definitely reverse charging capable as long as you have the AF16 cable accessory.
The Ascend Mate 2 also packs a 6.1-inch 720p display, a 13MP camera on the back, a 5MP camera up front for selfies and video chat, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage (up to 32 GB via MicroSD), and Huawei’s own Emotion UI 2.0 skinned on top of Android 4.3. Under the hood you’re looking at a quad-core 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset.
The Ascend Mate 2 goes on sale through Wind Mobile tomorrow and will be available for $0 on a Wind 50 or 60 plan on Windtab, $149 on Wind 40, and $249 on Wind 35. Buying the phone outright will set you back $399.
