Images show Lenovo’s new Googlebook, 2-in-1 tablet

The Googlebook is on its way here soon, and we finally have a look at what one of the new devices is going to look like.

Essentially, Digital Citizen managed to get hold of the entire press image set for the new Googlebook, showing a full look at what the Chromebook’s predecessor will look like.

Named the Lenovo Googlebook 15, the laptop includes a 15.6-inch screen, a completely revamped operating system (merging ChromeOS and Android), AI capabilities, and thin bezels on all four sides.

Now, as a Lenovo owner, this laptop looks very familiar to me- except instead of Lenovo branding being all over the laptop, it’s all Google’s branding. Taking a look at the keyboard, the Dolby Atmos logo was pushed to the right side in favour of the Googlebook wordmark. Interestingly, in place of the Windows key, there is now a Google key, adorned with the Google ‘G’ logo. Digital Citizen noted that this is a hardware Gemini key and will act similarly to a Windows key.

The caps lock key also has a new logo. It does look like it has some sort of function, but what it exactly does is unclear. 9to5Google raised an interesting point, as that key served as a search function on Chromebooks.

The Android navigation keys also make a return. They will take up the three keys next to ‘Escape,’ closest to the brightness and screenshot buttons (which I’m also happy is on the Googlebook; it was super handy).

In terms of hardware, the Googlebook sports an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, one USB-A Port, and a headphone jack.

Both Digital Citizen and CNET noted that, aside from Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Dell, and HP will be the first companies to produce Google Books, which debuted back in May.

Interestingly, the leak includes information that Lenovo is also developing a two-in-one tablet with Googlebook branding and the same G key on the keyboard. CNET noted that the device will sport Dolby Atmos speakers, a quad-speaker setup, and stylus input support.
