YouTube, PlayStation top Downdetector’s largest outages of 2025

The PlayStation, YouTube, and AWS outages all garnered over 1 million reports in North America

Downdetector by Ookla has shared the data on 2025’s most significant North American and worldwide service outages based on millions of reports to the service.

According to Downtetector, PlayStation Network (1.6 million), YouTube (1.5 million), and AWS (1.2 million) were the top three outages across the U.S. and Canada, with all three surpassing 1 million reports.

Interestingly, just barely cracking the list at 483,000 reports is the Bell outage that took place back in May. To jog your memory, this outage affected both Telus and Bell customers across Quebec and Ontario after an update to Bell’s routers caused them to go down right at 9 a.m. ET.

Spotify’s Apr. 16 outage also appeared on the list, with 601,000 reports on Downdetector when the music streaming giant went down around 8:00 a.m. ET.

Globally, Downdetector also reported that the AWS outage led to over 17 million reports across Amazon and other affected services. Similarly, the PlayStation Network outage resulted in 3.9 million reports on Downdetector. Interestingly, Cloudflare was not far behind, with its outage registering over 3.3 million reports across all impacted services.
