Telus offers free one-year Amazon Prime subscription with Echo and Echo Plus pre-orders (Update)

Amazon Echo

With the second-generation Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Plus coming to Canada on December 5th, Telus has launched a special promotion to entice Canadians to buy the smart home speaker from its online store.

Canadian consumers that pre-order the Echo Plus or second generation Echo from the carrier’s website will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Amazon Prime. In addition, Telus is selling the Echo Plus for $170 and Echo for $99, matching Amazon’s introductory price for the two devices. To top it all off, consumers that pre-order the Echo Plus will also get a free Philips Hue White A19 light bulb, valued at $19.99, while supplies last.

Amazon Prime, priced at $79 per year in Canada, offers subscribers in select areas of Canada complimentary free one- and two-day delivery for products bought on Amazon.ca.

In addition, irrespective of their location, Prime account holders gain access to Prime Video, Twitch Prime and the just launched in Canada Prime Music. Last but not least, Prime account holders also get unlimited online photo storage.

The offer is available until December 4th.

Correction: We’ve updated this article to reflect the fact the pre-order offer is only available online.

Update: A Telus spokesperson has informed MobileSyrup that the carrier has run out of one year Amazon Prime codes for second-generation Echo pre-orders. One year Amazon Prime codes are still available with Echo Plus pre-orders. We’ll update this article once both are gone.

Update #2 – November 16th: It now seems that Telus has completely run out of codes for the free Prime membership for both the Echo Plus and Echo. However, for those interested, Telus has added in a new promo for those interested in the Echo Plus with a free Philips Hue White A19 light bulb, which is valued at $19.99.
