OnePlus starts Android 7.1.1 beta test

smartphone running Android 7.1.2 Nougat

The latest OxygenOS beta update is now available to download from the OnePlus website.

For OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners who are brave enough to install the update, they’ll be able to check out Android 7.1.1.

7.1.1, like 6.0.1 before it, adds new, more diverse emojis. This time around, the emoji better represent professional women (and men) by adding gendered counterparts for emoji that previously had only male or female representation.

On the more functional side of things, 7.1.1 also adds some new homescreen functionality. Similar to iOS’ 3D Touch homescreen functionality, users can long-press on an icon to open up a contextual shortcut menu.

Besides Android 7.1.1, the update adds a tweaked gallery app that makes organizing photos and videos easier.

OnePlus did not say when it plans to officially release Android 7.1.1
