Marshmallow still ‘coming soon’ to many devices, according to a new Rogers rollout schedule

One of the most frustrating aspects of owning an Android phone is the excruciating wait for the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, even when it comes to a manufacturer’s newest devices. Aside from Nexus smartphones, a significant proportion of Android handsets take months before updates filter through carriers.

On Friday, Rogers posted a new spreadsheet on its community forum with the latest timetable for Android Marshmallow and Windows 10 Mobile updates. The post also includes a note that accurate dates for these updates is a top priority at Rogers, but testing and deployment issues means they are subject to changes.

While it’s encouraging to see a carrier aiming for transparency with regards to coming updates, for owners of the phones mentioned, the table still doesn’t include software release dates for some devices. Given the nature of the testing required, some uncertainty is warranted, but the vagueness of something “coming soon” makes the update useless.

You can check out the full timetable for yourself to see if your phone is getting the latest software “soon” right here.
