Rogers, SaskTel and TELUS named in ‘Canada’s Top 100 Employers’ list

The annual list of “Canada’s Top 100 Employers” was revealed today. Now in its 15th year, Mediacorp followed ‘recruitment histories’ of over 75,000 employers from its job board, then distilled the list down and “invited 10,000 of the fastest-growing employers, plus 6,000 other companies and organizations in industries that our editors wanted to examine more closely.”

The list focussed on eight key areas: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.

From a telecom perspective, only 3 made the cut: Rogers, SaskTel and TELUS. This is an improvement over last year when only SaskTel and TELUS were listed.

Some of the reason Rogers is on the list is because they have a ‘a quiet room for meditation’ and ‘provides a variety of financial rewards.’ SaskTel provides ongoing employee development and academic scholarship programs for employees children. Finally, TELUS continued its trend making the list for offering employees the option to work remotely with its “Work Styles” program, plus its commitment to donate time and money to thousands of charitable initiatives.

Rogers has approximately 28,000 employees, SaskTel has 3,700; and TELUS with 28,000.
