WIND Mobile closes community forums, moves conversation to Facebook and Twitter

Before WIND Mobile launched their wireless service parent-company Globalive opened the “Wireless Soapbox.” This was a forum where people could get involved in early discussions of “what Canadians are really looking for, what are their priorities, what kinds of services and features they want, and what kind of plans they want to see.”

As the WIND Mobile brand evolved, Wireless Soapbox closed, thus the new entrant asked you to “join the conversation” on their main website. This made a great deal of sense as they started to sell their wireless service, internet sticks and handsets. Keep everything organized in one central location. Now it seems with the proliferaion of social media, specifically Facebook and Twitter, WIND has decided to shut down their community forum.

According to their blog post, WIND states that “the WIND Community here on WINDmobile.ca will be closing” and shifting towards providing “the best online experience possible” via Facebook and Twitter only. I reached out to WIND for clarification and they stated that “We don’t want to alienate any customers by closing our WIND Mobile Community forum, we are looking at other online customer service initiatives away from Facebook and Twitter.”

Hello WIND Community Members,

When we first opened the WIND Mobile Community, it was so we could hear from YOU, our amazing customers. We have appreciated and valued your participation here and we always want to hear what you have to say. We are striving to give you the best online experience possible and will be continuing the mobile conversation on Facebook (www.facebook.com/windmobile) and Twitter (@WINDMobile, @WIND_Cares). The WIND Community here on WINDmobile.ca will be closing. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and with your help, we look forward to continuing to change the Canadian mobile landscape.

-The WIND Team

Of course, if you’re not a fan of either Facebook or Twitter you can always send WIND an email to get your questions answered, or possibly join other discussion forums like ours here, or our friends over at HowardForums.

At last count WIND Mobile had over 430,000 wireless subscribers.
