Sonos updates its iPad app to include Retina support, Android app gets tablet love

Sonos, the wireless speaker/sub system that allows you to use your iOS or Android device as a remote for streaming, has updated its iPad app to include Retina graphics and its Android app to support all tablets. It may be a small change, but considering many people use their tablets in or near the living room, it’s important for the visual representation of the speaker system to look fantastic.

Sonos supports separate iPhone and Android apps, and allows you to connect multiple speakers in various configurations around the house (Play:3, Play:5, Sub) in order to synchronize a music stream. This could mean playing the same song in the living room as the bedroom, or filling the entire house with the same music for added immersion. The system supports myriad music services, including Rdio, Slacker Radio, TuneIn Radio, Deezer and more. The cost of entry may be high, but it’s a fair price for what you get — few other sound systems make whole-house streaming so easy and intuitive.
