Nokia just took the beta tag off its excellent Transit app for Windows, bringing it to version 2.1 and extending its functionality to 100 cities officially, and 450 “locales” unofficially. The app, which is available for Lumia 610, 710, 800 and 900 devices only, provides minute-by-minute city transit information, including “Best Route” and other essential information.
If you frequent a specific place, you can pin its tile to your home screen and find your way back there from wherever you may be. Transit also utilizes Nokia Maps to guide you, once you’re off your train or bus, to your final destination. In that way, the the directions are more akin to a true mapping service and not just a once-off endeavour. For frequent transit users the app could become your de facto mapping app on Windows Phone.
For a full rundown of what the app can do, hit the break. Nokia has created a little video clip detailing all the goodness.
It may take a little time to disseminate to the Canadian Marketplace, but you can find it in the Nokia category.
