Note taking apps are a dime a dozen these days, and that generally means there are a few good options and lots of bad ones. OneNote is an extremely powerful and versatile cross-platform app with clients for Windows, Android, iOS and the web. It’s also run by Microsoft, so it’s got a robust cloud infrastructure and gets updated regularly.
This week, the entire OneNote suite got a big update, including nice new features for both iOS and Android, taking advantage of each platform in a unique way. On Android, Microsoft has introduced a floating OneNote badge; you can launch it at any time to quickly save notes and dismiss it with a swipe when you’re done.
On iOS, the OneNote app is now optimized for all the new Apple devices, including the iPad Pro. On the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, you can access shortcuts to create new notes or view recent ones with a 3D Touch gesture on the icon. There are a ton of other features available for Windows and on the web as well, which you can check out here.
The iOS update is out right now, and the Android app will be rolling out over the next few weeks.
