Snapchat’s latest update lets users make Bitmoji widgets of their friends

Snapchat

Snapchat recently announced an addition to its private messaging functionality that incorporates the previously-acquired startup Bitmoji. Now, users can instantly start chatting with friends on Snapchat with the launch of Bitmoji widget chat shortcuts.

Users can now create Bitmoji widgets for their favourite friends from their personalized avatars, and select them from their iOS Today screen or their Android home screen to enter straight into a chat with a friend.

Snapchat acquired Bitmoji in March of 2016 for $64.2 billion, which allows users to make avatars that look like them and send them as stickers in Snapchat.

To add Bitmoji widgets on an iOS Today screen, simply swipe down to the bottom of the screen and select Edit. Add Snapchat and your Snapchat Best Friends, based on your interaction within the app with friends who have created personalized Bitmoji avatars.

On Android, users can tap and hold an empty part of their home screen, select Widgets, select Snapchat, and choose up to four friends to turn into home screen fixtures.
