Soon you’ll be able to grab a Freedom Mobile phone while picking up a video game. Canada’s largest video game retailer is becoming an authorized retail partner with Freedom Mobile, according to an internal document sourced by MobileSyrup.

On February 28th, 21 EB Games locations in Ontario will begin selling ZTE Grand X4, Samsung J1, Sony Xperia XA and Sony Xperia Ultra devices in a dedicated Freedom Mobile display within the store.

Additionally, to celebrate the launch Freedom is offering customers who activate a Sony phone at EB Games a $100 in-store credit for a Playstation 4 or a $50 credit if they purchase a ZTE or Samsung phone. The offer runs from launch to March 14th

This isn’t the first time Freedom Mobile (once known as Wind Mobile) partnered with a notable retail chain. In 2010, the carrier operated over 100 kiosks located within Blockbuster stores. The video store eventually went out of business, however, due to the rise of digital content platforms — a trend which is also occurring in the games industry.

There is no indication in the document as to when or if Freedom plans to expand this partnership past Ontario to the rest of its coverage footprint.

The list of EB Games stores at launch is as follows:

  • Trinity Commons St 2248 — 150 Great Lakes Drive, Brampton
  • Bramalea City Centre — 25 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
  • Highway 7 & Airport Rd (1700) — 2880 Queen St. East, Brampton
