Here’s the list of Motorola smartphones that will get Android 7.0 in Canada

Moto Z

Leave it to Motorola to make an important announcement like its Android 7.0 upgrade list on the same day as Google’s Pixel keynote. At almost the exact time former Moto chief Rick Osterloh introduced the world to Google’s new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, the Lenovo-owned company dropped its list of Nougat-eligible phones.

At first blush, the list seems extensive, but take away all the Verizon-exclusive variants and the number of Moto phones set to get the latest version of Google’s OS in Canada becomes pretty thin.

Indeed, notably missing from the list are the Moto G3, which is only a bit over a year old, and the low-cost Moto E — both devices that did well here.

If it’s any consolation, Motorola notes the Moto Z and Moto G (4th Gen) are set to get Nougat at some point later this year, which is good news for anyone that decides to buy the just released Moto Z.
