Microsoft Canada recruits deadmau5 to drop the beat at Surface 2 launch tonight (Update)

“Surface 2 promises one of the most personal and productive tablet experience on the market,” says a Microsoft release this morning.

To celebrate the upcoming release of the 10.6 inch Windows 8.1 tablets Microsoft has tapped deadmau5 for a special concert tonight in Toronto.

The Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 will officially launch on October 22nd and are both available for pre-order now. The Surface 2 starts at $449 for the 32GB version and $549 for the 64GB. The surface Pro 2 ranges in price from $899 to $1,799 and comes in 64GB to 512GB versions.

Henrik Gütle of Microsoft Canada says “There is an unfilled need in the market for a great device that keeps pace with life wherever it takes you, at work and at play. The tablet that fills this need is the new Surface. We believe it is the most complete device on the planet.”

If you’re interested in seeing this spectacle, Microsoft says there’ll be a few tickets available at the Kool Haus “immediately before the event” at 7:00pm. There are also other ways to win: find a member of the Microsoft Street Team using Bing Maps, or head to Microsoft Canada’s Facebook page for more details.

We’ll also be giving away some tickets to the event throughout the day, so check back here periodically, or follow us on Twitter @MobileSyrup.

Update: Microsoft is giving away tickets to the concert tonight, and is asking people to tweet at the @MicrosoftCanada account with their favourite Surface 2 feature. Make sure that the hashtag #SurfaceHasLanded is in the tweet to ensure that they see it. We’ll be picking 20 winners from the list. Good luck!
