Eastlink targeting mid-2012 to launch wireless service

2012 will not only be the year of mobile content, but also be the year for wireless competition in the East Coast. The Big 3, Rogers, Bell, and TELUS have all increased their commitment by improving service, offering deals and coming to the table with long distance promos. In addition, WIND Mobile announced they’ll open up shop in Halifax in 2012.

It’s also known that EastLink will go live their wireless service in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island in 2012. A few months ago Jill Laing, EastLink spokesperson, said they plan to launch a “world-class wireless network”. At the time the company had no tower locations or a distribution plan. Seems some progress is happening for the company as a report in the Halifax News states they currently have 13 new tower applications and installing 20 rooftop antennas. In addition, Eastlink is now estimated to launch their wireless service sometime mid-2012. No word on what the distribution plans, but you can probably bet they’ll come out with some bundle promos as well.

Another choice is coming to the East Coast.
