Elon Musk blames Model 3 production woes on robots

Musk thinks humans on the factory floor will speed up Model 3 production

Elon Musk

The Tesla Model 3 has experienced production issues since its launch last year, with Elon Musk now stating that he’s working to remedy these problems by adding more human workers to the factory floor.

The Tesla factory was designed to be one of the most robotic factories ever, but Musk is now saying that more humans are needed on the factory floor to keep things running smoothly.

“It’s worse than I thought, we have this crazy complex network of conveyor belts and it was not working so we got rid of that whole thing,” said Musk in an interview with CBS’s Gayle King.

Musk reiterated this point on Twitter on April 13th where he said “excessive automation at Tesla was a mistake. To be precise, my mistake. Humans are underrated.”

Now that Musk has a plan to speed up the Model 3 production the cars will finally hit the 5,000 vehicles per week production goal.
