A year ago the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) along with the RCMP launched a free service to have AMBER Alert texts sent to your device. This provided info “about a child’s abduction, and to solicit the public’s help in the safe and swift return of the child”. Certainly a good cause to be part of and the CWTA announced that 25,000 Canadians have opted-in to help out. This free AMBER Alerts service is available across Canada on Bell, Fido, Koodo, MTS, NorthernTel, Rogers, SaskTel, Solo, Télébec, TELUS, Videotron, Virgin Mobile and Wind Mobile (not yet available on Public or Mobilicity for some reason).
You can text the keyword AMBER to 26237 from your wireless device or get more info here at WirelessAMBER.ca
