Meta announced its first-ever pair of audio-only smart glasses during its Meta Connect 2026 keynote in California.
Dubbed the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, these glasses pack Meta’s signature AI-powered wearable features into its lightest and slimmest spectacles to date. Notably, ditching the camera setup has helped reduce the weight to only 43 grams, compared to around 50g for other models, or even 70g for the Display glasses. Plus, there are customizable temple tips, nose pads, and overextension hinges.
Feature-wise, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio supports hands-free music and podcasts, call functionality and AI assistant conversations. All of this can be done for up to 12 hours on a single charge, plus up to 48 additional hours with the included charging case.

Another related feature that Meta is introducing later this year is the accessibility-focused Hearing Enhancement. For a single US$150 (about C$207) fee or a Meta One subscription, those with select Meta glasses styles who are hard of hearing will be able to receive clearer audio using the glasses’ six speakers.
In a demo at Meta Connect, I got to try out the feature using foam ear plugs, which made it almost impossible to hear the representatives sitting across from us. But with Hearing Enhancement, I could make out not only what the spokesperson was saying, but the surrounding media who were asking questions as well.
Meta said hearing aids normally cost at least US$800, so it intends for Hearing Enhancement to serve as a more affordable option for people. The company will also offer a 30-day free trial.
The Ray-Ban Meta Audio launches on October 13 for US$349 (about C$491), with pre-orders available today. We’ve reached out to Meta for Canadian pricing and availability and will update this story once we hear back.
