Telus texting Pixel 10 Pro deal with $60/100GB plan to some Koodo customers

Telus is messaging some Koodo customers, offering a special deal if they switch to Telus.

Over the weekend, my wife received one such message from Telus, offering a Pixel 10 Pro for $5/mo financing along with a $60/100GB plan.

The financing portion of the deal is not much different from what Telus offers on its website right now. First, it uses Telus’ Bring-it-Back program, which means Telus discounts the monthly financing cost if customers agree to return the device after 24 months. Customers can also pay the difference at the end of their contract to keep the phone.

In the case of the Pixel 10 Pro, it breaks down like this. Telus charges $1,580 for the device, but takes away $1,460 of the cost, leaving customers with $120 in financing charges, or $5/mo for 24 months. The $1,460 is split into a $1,170 smartphone discount, an $80 Bring-it-Back bonus discount, and a $210 Bring-it-Back amount. That last part is what you’d pay at the end of your term to keep the device, for a total cost of $330 for the device. Compare that to the regular Pixel 10 Pro financing, which costs $17.08/mo (or $409.92 total over 24 months), and you’re actually saving a little over $100. Not bad!

But while the financing might not be different from the options on Telus website, the plan certainly is. The Telus offer includes a $60/100GB 5G+ Complete plan. However, looking at the options on Telus’ website right now, the 100GB 5G+ Complete plan costs $95/mo when paired with the Pixel 10 Pro.

So, that’s a savings of $35/mo for the plan alone, which is honestly very solid. I do think $60/100GB is a bit on the high side still, especially when you can get options like $45/125GB from carriers like Freedom Mobile, but it’s a good price for Telus.

Telus’ 5G+ Complete plan includes 100GB of shareable data with speeds of up to 2Gbps (and unlimited usage at throttled speeds of up to 512Kbps), unlimited talk and text in the U.S., unlimited long distance to 27 destinations, and more. The plan includes unlimited data roaming in the U.S., but with a limit of 5GB/day at full speed followed by unlimited use at up to 512Kbps.

The text offer also touts some other Telus benefits, like a five-year price lock, a free year of Skip+, and other exclusive benefits through Telus Rewards.

So, keep an eye on your text messages if you’re with Koodo, because Telus might soon offer you a half-decent upgrade option.
