Scotiabank online banking experiencing outage [Update]

The internet and a bank having an outage at the same time feels weird

Update May 21, 2025 at 11:47 a.m. ET: Scotiabank has confirmed that it’s fixed the issue and users can use online banking again.

Coinciding with a weirdly large internet outage across parts of Canada, Scotiabank’s online banking services are also having issues.

According to Downdetector, the bank’s online website and mobile apps have been not working for around 24 hours. The company hasn’t reported anything concrete, but a CTV News report says that users who try to log into the website are greeted with a “currently unavailable” message.

Scotiabank’s support account on Twitter has been fielding messages about the outage for hours but also hasn’t shared what’s happening or how long it might take to fix.

MobileSyrup has reached out to Scotiabank and will update this story when more information becomes available.
