Google is working on an upper midrange smartphone with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 710 chipset, according to Germany-based tipster Roland Quandt.

Quandt said the device is scheduled to launch within the first half of 2019, but didn’t reveal any further details.

While we have yet to see a handset with the 710 processor, Qualcomm says the chipset offers several AI and camera enhancements over the Snapdragon 660 chip.

The processor supports facial recognition with active depth sensing, the ability to capture and share contextually aware photos and videos as well as up to 32-megapixel sensors for a single image processor (ISP) and 20-megapixel sensors for a dual ISP.

The midrange Pixel handset is expected to debut next year, while Google will launch the Pixel 3 and 3XL later this year, likely in October.
