HQ Trivia will let players see their Friends’ answers during games on Fridays

It's kind of like 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire's' phone a friend, but not really

HQ Trivia plans to introduce new social features to its twice daily mobile trivia game show, including the ability to share answers with friends while in a game — but only on Fridays.

The popular trivia game has been testing this feature with a small group of users, including myself. This coming Friday, however, the feature is set to roll out to all HQ Trivia users.

Once users have connected their address book to HQ and added their friends, they’ll be able to view what friends are playing the game at the same time as them. Their avatar then shows up on their friends’ pages in-game, indicating what specific answer you’ve selected.

HQ says that the idea behind the feature is that it mimics what people typically do in the real-world when they’re playing HQ trivia: yelling out answers to their coworkers, family and friends.

Last month, HQ Trivia added a new ‘Friends on HQ’ feature that allows users to view what friends are playing at the same time as them.

While the ability to see friends’ answers is interesting, I found it influenced the way I played the game. In more than one situation, rather than just going with my gut, I ended up copying the answer selection of someone from my friends’ list.

HQ Trivia experienced significant difficulties during its Tuesday night match, resulting in two restarts because of questions being incorrectly marked as wrong for multiple users.

HQ Trivia is free to download and play on iOS and Android.
