Google collects its AI initiatives under Google.ai

At Google’s annual I/O developer conference, CEO Sundar Pichai communicated just how important AI is to the company, and announced that all of its future artificial intelligence initiatives will be housed at the Google.ai website.

The website and company at large will focus on three areas: research, tools and ‘applied AI.’

One aspect of AI that Google is particularly interested in pursuing is opening up machine learning to any developer that is interested.

“We want it to be possible for hundreds of thousands of developers to use machine learning,” said Pichai.

Pichai also delved deep into the possibilities that AI brings to the future, stating: “One day AI will invent new molecules that behave in predefined ways.”
