For the better part of the last six years, Undo Send has been one of Gmail’s best kept secrets. Once turned on, it causes the ubiquitous email client to wait up to 30 seconds before sending an email after the send button has been hit. In that time, the user is given the opportunity to take back an email. This might seem like a small feature, but just count the number times you’ve caught a mistake right after sending an email and Undo Send’s usefulness should become clear. It’s certainly saved me from sending numerous typo-filled pitches.
Earlier in the week, Google announced that it had integrated Undo Send into Gmail proper. No longer is the feature hidden in the experimental “Labs” section of Gmail settings menu. Today, Undo Send is also being added to Gmail’s Inbox app for Android and iOS. It’s available by default, so you don’t even need to dig through Inbox’s settings to enable it.
