Apple Watch will be sold “exclusively online during the initial launch,” will offer preview in-store

Apple has confirmed that pre-orders for the Apple Watch will begin at 3:01am EST for Canadians through its online store, as well as Apple Store app for iPhone and iPad. Those who successfully purchase any of the three models can expect “delivery beginning April 24,” which is the official launch date of the Apple Watch.

In an email we received, Apple stated, “All Apple Watch customers will be offered Personal Setup, online or in-store, to pair their Apple Watch with their iPhone. New owners will also learn how to personalize Apple Watch by selecting a watch face, deciding which notifications to receive, setting up the Activity app, and receive an introduction to Apple Pay and the Apple Watch App Store.”

In addition, Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s SVP of Retail and Online Stores, acknowledged that its first wearable has been met with “tremendous interest” and “we expect that strong customer demand will exceed our supply at launch.” Ahrendts also noted that Apple will not be selling the Watch in-store but “exclusively online during the initial launch period.”

For those unsure if they want to make a purchase without seeing the Apple Watch, Apple will be making all models and watch bands available in-store this coming Friday so customers can experience it first hand.

As previously reported, there are three Apple Watch models available — Watch Sport, Watch Collection, Watch Edition — with Canadian pricing starting at $449, topping out at $22,000.
