Catch Notes 5.0 for Android and iOS adds checklists and huge interface improvements

Catch Notes has always been an underdog in a mobile note-taking industry dominated by Evernote and Springpad. But the company, whose apps have often been feature-heavy but not great on the implementation, has introduced some great new features in its latest version.

Catch Notes 5.0 for iOS and Android revamps the user interface considerably, introducing a “Capture Wheel” that allows you to thumb through the various tasks offered by the app. At its core Catch is still a simple note-taking app, though that feature has been fleshed out to allow for collaboration and tagging, but recent app versions have introduced voice, video and photo notes, as well as reminders.

The new version adds checklists to the mix, which can be shared with groups and teams depending on the status of the “Space”. Granular privacy settings are possible based on Space, though your “My Ideas” area is always private.

Catch Pro, which is $4.99/month or $44.99/year, adds the ability to attach PDF and office documents to notes, and gives you 1GB of upload storage every month. It also increases the number of overall spaces to 50. In all, Catch is a fantastic little product on both iOS and Android, and while the current version is optimized only for smartphones, a tablet version is coming relatively soon.
