Cartoon: Robelus are spectrum hoarders, Mobilicity encourages government to have a set-aside for 700MHz auction

With Christian Paradis, Canada’s new Minister of Industry, taking his sweet time to officially announce the details and date for the upcoming 700MHz spectrum auction, Mobilicity has decided to have a little fun by creating a “special-edition” Oliver Twist like cartoon. Clearly they want a set aside for them to grow and benefit from this “beachfront” spectrum. “Hoarders” is the message they are sending to Ottawa and that the Big 3 (Rogers, Bell and TELUS) already have enough spectrum and are basically greedy. I’m curious to understand which carrier the little girl represents (WIND, Mobilicity, Public or Videotron).

Mobilicity is coming off a quarter that saw them increase their subscriber base by 63,000. Stewart Lyons, Mobilicity President and CEO, stated that “For Mobilicity, acquiring more spectrum in the upcoming Federal Government auction is a must-have – not a nice-to-have. Our current 3G technology uses our entire 10MHz of spectrum and we need more to expand and introduce new technologies, such as LTE.”

The auction details are rumoured to be announced in the coming weeks.
Thoughts?
