Here’s something cool that’s gone global and designed by Toronto’s Ryerson University. Currently testing on 10 Android phones, an app called “Mobile Transit Companion”is designed to help those who have special needs and travel on the Paris Metro. The free app can be download and a user creates their profile. This info is then be sent to your mobile device where it’ll help you navigate your way through the subway system. Users can receive notifications such as the location of station elevators, schedules, connecting trains, Metro transfer points, facilities and nearby businesses. This is not yet tested in Canada but there’s a pilot project scheduled in the Fall with Go Transit.
