MTS customers can now make mobile payments on select Android phones

MTS customers can now make mobile payments with the TD Canada Trust app, as long as they have an NFC SIM card and one of the 18 supported devices.

The announcement comes from EnStream, the facilitator between the banks and service providers, which claims that with the addition of SaskTel (which we wrote about last month) and MTS, 94% of the Canadian population is covered. Unfortunately, it fails to mention that, at least right now, the ecosystem is littered with inconsistencies, and not a single phone released in 2015 is supported.

Right now, MTS and SaskTel customers are limited to payments through the TD Canada Trust app, but EnStream says more financial institutions are soon coming on board.

The supported devices are included below:

  • HTC One (M8)
  • HTC One (M7)
  • LG G3
  • LG G2
  • Samsung Galaxy Alpha
  • Samsung Galaxy S5
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 Active
  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Samsung Galaxy S3
  • Samsung Galaxy Mega
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Note II
  • Sony Xperia Z3
  • Sony Xperia Z2
  • Sony Xperia Z1
