Sony rumoured to announce budget Xperia E3 with Snapdragon 400 tomorrow

We’ve been hearing about the three devices Sony has planned for IFA for several weeks and Sony released a shadowy image of just three devices last week. However, it seems we could see a fourth device during tomorrow morning’s press conference in Berlin. Does Sony have a surprise for us?

According to the latest rumours, Sony has a budget Xperia device planned for this week’s event, too. Dubbed the Xperia E3, 9to5 Google reports that the device will be based on the Snapdragon 400 with a 1.2 GHz processor and will have a 4.8-inch 720p display. There’s also talk of between 1.5 GB and 2 GB of RAM, though the former is probably more likely given the price is expected to be between $200 and $300.

Though it might not be a very high-end ‘one more thing,’ it would fit right in with Sony’s announcement tomorrow. The company already has the Z3 and the smaller but similarly spec’d Z3 Compact (pictured above) on the schedule. What tomorrow’s event is missing a lower-end device aimed at shoppers on a budget. Sony’s mid-range Xperia M2 was just announced earlier this year but doesn’t quite measure up to the likes of the Moto G. Perhaps the Xperia E3 is the do-over we’ve been looking for.
