SaskTel has expanded its 5G network more rural and Indigenous communities in Sasktachewan.

The carrier says it’s spend the past several months investing in 5G infrastructure for Air Ronge, Wilkie, Thunderchild First Nation, as well as over 160 additional cell sites for rural and Indigenous communities and highway corridors. A full list of areas that have been upgraded to 5G can be found on SaskTel’s website. (There’s a lot.)

With its current 5G connectivity, Sasktel says users will receive data speeds of up 1.2Gbps, with plans to continue to improve the network and deliver even faster performance. The company also says it’s built its network to allow for new use cases for emerging wireless technologies in the future.

Overall, Sasktel’s 5G network covers nearly 90 per cent of Saskatchewan’s population.
