At Google I/O 2026, Xreal and Google showed off the fruit of their labour, Project Aura.
These glasses are super cool, but they are wired XR glasses, so you’ll need to keep them plugged in. Not like other Android XR or Meta glasses.
Xreal’s Project Aura sports a high-res screen and is powered by Qualcomm, offering immersive Google Maps navigation, immersive YouTube 180 and 360-degree VR videos, as well as 2D and 3D videos on Project Aura’s 70-degree FOV.
Additionally, Project Aura features an “intuitive” and fun WebXR 3D painting app, as well as AI-powered Android XR games and interactions designed for wearables.
Google and Xreal are also working together on a program, which will give select developers early access to Project Aura hardware with “the Android XR Developer Catalyst Program.”
Pricing for Project Aura is still unknown, but Xreal glasses are now available in Canada at Best Buy.
These smart glasses launch globally at the end of 2026.
