Netflix has dropped a first look at Below, a Newfoundland-set thriller series premiering on October 8.

On its Tudum blog, the streamer showed off several images from the six-episode miniseries alongside some insight from Canadian creator Jesse McKeown (The Umbrella Academy). Below follows a small town that must fight for survival after it’s attacked by a mysterious sea creature.

The series stars Josh Hartnett (Trap), Vancouver’s Mackenize Davis (Halt and Catch Fire), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Labrador West’s Willow Kean (The King Tide), Ruby Stokes (Bridgerton), Cochrane, Alta.’s Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) and Ottawa’s Kaleb Horn (Chucky). It was also filmed in Newfoundland, with McKeown telling Tudum that he’s been going to the province for many years and felt it would be “a great place for something big and something kind of epic.”

While many TV and film productions are shot in Canada, it’s not often they’re set here, and it’s even rarer that one takes place in Newfoundland. All in all, Below looks pretty promising.
