Here are the best-selling games in Canada for May 2026

Xbox's Forza Horizon 6 topped the list, which is ironic news considering the brand is such a mess right now

The Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) and Circana have revealed the best-selling games in Canada in May 2026.

The full list is as follows:

  1. Forza Horizon 6 (Playground Games/Xbox)
  2. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight (Traveller’s Tales/Warner Bros. Games)
  3. 007 First Light (IO Interactive)
  4. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (Nintendo)
  5. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (Nintendo)
  6. Resident Evil Requiem (Capcom)
  7. Diablo IV (Blizzard Entertainment/Xbox)
  8. MLB The Show 26 (San Diego Studio/PlayStation)
  9. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Treyarch/Raven Software/Activision/Xbox)
  10. Pragmata (Capcom)

Notably, this is similar to April’s top 10 where neither NHL 26 nor EA Sports FC 26, which were both developed by EA Vancouver, made the list. That said, it will be interesting to see how the start of the FIFA World Cup in June may have driven sales of EA Sports FC 26. Outside of the sports games, Quebec City’s Beenox assisted development on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, while Ottawa’s Snowed In helped out on Diablo IV.

Beyond the Canadian connections, Forza Horizon 6 topping the chart is notable since the acclaimed Japan-set racer is only available on Xbox Series X/S and PC right now, with a PS5 release set for later this year. (This news also comes amid a giant mess at Xbox involving the layoffs of 3,200 people, or 20 per cent of the whole division.) Meanwhile, the new Lego Batman and James Bond games rounding out the top three, respectively, isn’t very surprising.

For context, here’s the U.S. top 10 for May:

  1. 007 First Light (IO Interactive)
  2. Forza Horizon 6 (Playground Games/Xbox)
  3. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight (Traveller’s Tales/Warner Bros. Games)
  4. Subnautica 2 (Unknown Worlds Entertainment)
  5. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (Nintendo)
  6. MLB The Show 26 (San Diego Studio/PlayStation)
  7. Crimson Desert (Pearl Abyss)
  8. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (Nintendo)
  9. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Treyarch/Raven Software/Activision/Xbox)
  10. Mario Kart World (Nintendo)

It’s worth mentioning that Yoshi and the Mysterious Book placed fifth in Canada compared to eighth across the border, a testament to Nintendo games typically charting higher here. Otherwise, Subnautica 2 (fourth), Crimson Desert (seventh) and Mario Kart World (tenth) made the U.S. top 10 but didn’t crack ours, while Pragmata and Diablo IV were on ours but not theirs.

June’s list will be rather intriguing to see; alongside FIFA going on, it was a fairly light month for releases. Some of the notable launches were Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, Square Enix’s The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, EA Vancouver’s EA Sports UFC 6, and the Switch 2 Star Fox remake.
