Reminder: PS5 prices go up tomorrow, and that’s no joke

Today's your last chance to avoid paying significantly more for PS5, PS5 Pro and PS Portal

Amid all of the usual dumb fake news stories you’ll see today for April Fool’s Day, there’s one thing that’s absolutely true that you might want to make note of. As confirmed last week, the PS5, PS5 Pro and PS Portal are all going up in price on Thursday, April 2.

This means that it’s your last chance to get one of PlayStation’s consoles or its handheld before rather significant hikes. For context, these are the new prices compared to the old ones:

  • Standard PS5 — $819.99 (previously $649.99)
  • Digital PS5 — $749.99 (previously $579.99)
  • PS5 Pro — $1099.99 (previously $959.99)
  • PS Portal — $319.99 (previously $269.99)

Overall, you’ll be paying nearly $200 more for the base PS5s, and nearly $150 more for the PS5 Pro. This comes ahead of highly anticipated PS5 exclusives like Saros (April 30) and Marvel’s Wolverine (September 15).

If you don’t already own a PS5, would you be willing to buy one at these higher-than-ever prices? Or are you going to pick one up today to take advantage of the lower prices? Let us know in the comments.
