Netflix introduces forward and skipping buttons on mobile [Update]

It's unclear if the new UI has arrived on iOS devices

Netflix has finally updated its mobile user interface (UI).

The U.S.-based streaming giant Netflix has changed the location of the pause/play button — now found in the centre of the video — while flanking that button with 10-second forward and 10-second rewind buttons. Unfortunately this means if you want to rewind a full minute, you’ll have to tap six times instead of twice.

Netflix also moved the ‘Episodes’ and ‘Audio & Subtitles’ buttons to the bottom of the screen. The buttons are now written out and quite distinct.

Additionally, Netflix has added a new well-needed ‘Next episode’ button, which lets users jump to the next episode. All of the buttons now have haptic feedback.

The update reduces some of the more frustrating aspects of the old Netflix UI. With the old UI, the pause button was placed in the bottom left and the app only had a 30-second rewind option. The app also grouped the Episodes, Casting, Audio & Subtitles buttons at the top right.

According to Netflix, at this time, this update is for Android users only.
